Message-ID: <827F1947-E9EE-4F60-9FE7-60EE807A248A@TheSteinthals.com> Okay guys - we have a carnival on Saturday. The forecast for Saturday is sunny in the high 60's. Perfect! As of the last update I received this morning, we have pre-sold $2300 in raffle tickets. The prize list will go around again tomorrow from Ed and Andy. The raffle is shaping up very nicely. Thanks for the donations and the pre-purchases. Now the bad news... We need 25 people to run the rides. We need 4 people to run the food prep and food and drink sales. We need 2 people to man the money booth. We need 2 people coordinating things. Add that up... 33 people a shift. Ed, Tim, and I are there all day. That gets us to a need number of 30 people per shift. Our number of volunteers is UNDER HALF AS WE HAD LAST YEAR! Okay... Here's details of where we are: 1) I've changed the shifts. Setup and shift 1 are now one shift and called shift 1, and we only have 3 shifts, not 4. Therefore, the shifts are longer. Shift 3 also does clean-up. Why do this? Simply to get the overall need of people down by 30 people! See the grid below for the raw ugliness of the numbers. Time Shift We need We have We are short 8:30 - 11:00 Shift 1 30 5 -25 11:00 - 1:30 Shift 2 30 18 -12 1:30 - 4:00 Shift 3 30 13 -17 All Day All Day 3 3 0 2) We need more of you to volunteer. I understand some can't make it due to the holiday weekend, but if you are in town, let's make it work some how!!! Soccer just does not take that long. Your wives can cover soccer and you cover the carnival. Get a grandparent to do soccer... We simply can't run the rides without more help. 3) I have scheduled the current volunteers as follows (and thank you all!!!!). If you want to do more, please let me know. If you want to change shifts, please let me know. For those of you who have asked for certain roles, I have that in the master spreadsheet. Message-ID: <47234F25272E4CCBA3EEC280807C5490@KLGLAPTOP002> Hi All, I have a special message below from the always affable Ed Holleran who, judging by the tone of the below, is a little peeved with your miserly response so far (or quite possibly with my weak fundraising skills). I don't think we want to further enrage him by not responding with open minds and open wallets. Please take a moment to ponder the ramifications of an anemic response to the below. And most importantly, don't kill the messenger! You can send me an email with number of tickets, name and phone number to fill in, and we'll take care of the rest. Thank you for your generosity; see you Saturday. Best, Andy Yeah, yeah, I know, nobody wants to sell raffle tickets because they lost so much money in the stock market. Think of this,.no ticket sales, no Res. Sports. Think of this,.a $10 ticket gives you the chance to win, $1500 worth of ski equipment or Giant tickets or Yankee tickets or any one of the other prizes. Take a chance, for $10 you can bring happiness to the kids at Res and maybe take home one of these prizes. Selling tickets won't be easy, but doing good never is. Print out this prize list and sell some raffle tickets in your office today. Ed Holleran Resurrection Fathers Club 2008 Annual Raffle Drawing, Saturday Oct. 11th. We are really close to having a full crew for every shift. We are only 8 slots from being filled up! Some notes re: the way the day will run: 1 - Shift 1 - setup is from 8:30 - 10:00. Most of the setup work is moving tables, hanging signs, and doing quick runs to the store for stuff we forgot. The rides will likely open early, as kids will come when they come. We are scheduled to start at 10:00. I will give you assignments for rides once we are setup. If you know you have to leave at 11 sharp, let me know, and I'll get you your sub faster. 2 - Shift 2 - look for me when you arrive. I'll try to be near the ticket booth during shift change. Come to me to find your assignment. You will have the most customers for the rides, etc... If you know you have to leave at 1:30 sharp, let me know, and I'll get you your sub faster. 3 - Shift 3 - look for me when you arrive. I'll try to be near the ticket booth during shift change. Come to me to find your assignment. We are scheduled to end at 3pm. If we have no customers, we will end early. This shift includes clean-up. The biggest part of clean-up is getting the tables back from where they came, and collecting garbage. I'm not going to send another note re: the carnival scheduling. (Andy might do another raffle update, so you are not out of the woods yet). Here are the stats. I've adjusted the We Need to account for fathers who are working with children, the All Day crew, and the 8th grade helpers. The weather was perfect, and the children were all smiles. Thank you all for all of your help. This event is only possible with the help of many people. Andy drove the raffle. Hutch ran inside and was covered in cotton candy. Tim ran the grill crew. Phil & Ed helped in many ways in prep and during execution. If I counted it right 65 dads worked the event this time, and most did double or triple shifts. Stacey pulled together about 20 8th graders of which 3 of them worked 7 hours at the event! Financially here are the numbers Raffle - $10,560 - a $1,700 increase over last year. Way to go guys! Silent auction - $2,770 - a $130 decrease over last year. Food - $1,235 - a $271 decrease - entirely due to our very competitive pricing Rides - $5,231 - a $1,675 decrease. Given this was a holiday weekend, and given we lowered the price on some of the rides, I think we did great on this as well. Gross total - $19,797 - a $376 decrease over last year. Given all that is going on in the world these days, we are very pleased to be inside of 2% of last year's gross. On the net side, we have to thank Powell's Catering for the burgers, dogs, and grills and Mike Caponiti for the drinks - all of which were donated completely so our food gross went straight to the bottom line. We will get a bill from PM Amusements, but we expect to net almost the same as last year. Thanks again for all of your help! One wanted us to show a year-over-year gain and donated $1000 to the carnival. A second was out of town, and donated $100 in lieu of the tickets he would have bought his children. With these donations we now have gross revenues of $20,897 or a $724 increase over last year! Thanks all. This is amazing! In other news, if your daughter is missing her Hello Kitty wallet with a few dollars in it, give Phil Semprevivo a call. He has it safe for her.
