The "Midnight Run" is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. When we do a Midnight Run, we distribute food, clothing, blankets, and personal care items to the homeless on the streets of New York City. This late-night effort creates an environment for trust, sharing, caring and understanding. Through Midnight Run volunteers come to see the homeless as real people, and homeless men and women learn that adults and teenagers have commitments and concerns that go beyond their own lives and families. <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><br><br> This is an incredible experience for our students and such a worthy cause that is accomplished entirely through donations. If you would be so kind as to look through your closets and donate any "gently-used" clothing we would be most appreciative. (Please, nothing dirty or worn-out). Items we need specifically are: sweatshirts, sweaters, coats, pants/bluejeans, belts, hats, gloves and sneakers. Please no suits, or womens/children's clothing, as there are other charities with needy recipients for those items. We will have donation boxes located at the entrance to the dinner.<br><br> Thank you very much for supporting the 8th grade "Midnight Run". I think you're familiar with what a Midnight Run is...we fill up 4 SUV's and go to various locations throughout NYC and hand out food and clothing to the homeless. I was told that you were terrific in getting our Ress fathers to donate some items in the past. The Midnight Run Organization is very specific with what we should bring and what is useful to these men on the streets:<span class="EC_EC_Apple-converted-space"> </span><br><br>"Gently-worn" sweatshirts, sweaters, coats, pants/bluejeans, lightly-worn sneakers, belts, hats and backpacks. (Suits are not really useful and there are other charities that have needy recipients for those)<br><br>If you could get the word out to our Ress fathers to bring their donations to the Father's Night Dinner it would be so appreciated! I have 3 big Midnight Run boxes at the schools and church and we can bring them to where the dinner is being held.
